Rangers confirm Matondo exit

Rangers have confirmed the departure of Rabbi Matondo to Norwegian side SK Brann in a permanent transfer.

The Wales international has played just three times this season, all of them as a substitute. His final appearance came in an 8-0 win over Queens Park in February.

The 25-year-old former Manchester City youth player arrived at Ibrox from Schalke in July 2022 and scored eight goals in 70 appearances, most of which were off the bench.

He spent the second half of last season on loan with Hannover in Bundesliga 2 and missed the first half of the current campaign with a knee injury, but was included in the Wales squad for this months World Cup play-offs.

A brief statement from the Ibrox club read: Everyone at Rangers wishes Rabbi the best of luck in his future endeavours.

Spurs talks with De Zerbi continuing with backroom staff under discussion

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Tottenham are continuing talks with Roberto De Zerbi on Tuesday.

As Your Site News reported on Monday, negotiations are progressing well, and Spurs are hopeful of making an appointment before the players return from international duty.

A number of aspects still need to be agreed upon, including the make-up of De Zerbi's backroom staff.

The Italian is not yet thought to be in London either - but if a full agreement is made this week, he will be ready to travel to the UK.

Relegation-threatened Spurs, who sit one point above the bottom three with seven games to go, want the former Brighton boss to take over permanently after  and have offered him a five-year contract.

The 46-year-old was high on the list of preferred candidates for Spurs this summer, but plans to pursue the appointment have been fast-tracked due to changing circumstances at the club.

Tonali will only leave 'on our terms', says Newcastle chief

Newcastle chief executive David Hopkinson says players will only leave the club "on our terms" in response to Sandro Tonali's future.

Tonali has been heavily linked with a departure from the North East and should he leave, it would represent back-to-back departures of marquee players at St James' Park following Alexander Isak's exit last summer.

Isak's transfer to Liverpool was a long, drawn-out affair that included the Sweden international training away from the squad and releasing a damning statement before his move was complete.

Responding to a direct question about Tonali, Hopkinson says players will leave on Newcastle's terms.

"We haven't got an overall strategy with regard to players out, necessarily," he said.

"We think through what players might or might not want to do this summer. But if an Isak-like scenario presents itself again, any player under contract is going to leave on our terms and we're going to maximise the opportunity that might represent for the club.

"Going forward, our strategy is to buy well and sell well. Buying well does not necessarily mean spending the most money. It means working in the marketplace for the players that generate the most value for this club rather than the fee paid for them.

"So there are a multitude of things we need to employ, including developing our own, looking for opportunities in the marketplace and making sure we are maximising our opportunity within the available price we can produce."

Anderson has his sights on the World Cup and ignores transfer talk

Elliot Anderson has only got the World Cup in his sights amid rumours of a big-money summer transfer.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder has been linked to a move to Manchester United after a brilliant two years at the City Ground.

The 23-year-old looks set to have a chance to swell his transfer fee as he appears virtually guaranteed to be part of the England squad heading to the World Cup.

And making sure he gets a seat on the plane is the only thing he is concentrating on.

Obviously weve got the World Cup this summer so all my eyes are on that, he said. Playing for England, Ive got the badge on now so thats all Im thinking about at the moment.

I want it that way (to be guaranteed a start). But Ive got a season left with Forest.

Ive got plenty of games and theres plenty of time until then. Ive got to keep my standards high and make sure that happens."

England's World Cup opponents Ghana sack boss after Germany loss

England's World Cup opponents Ghana have sacked their head coach Otto Addo after Monday's 2-1 friendly defeat to Germany.

Deniz Undav's late winner after Issahaku Fatwu had cancelled out Kai Havertz's opener inflicted a fourth consecutive loss on Ghana to bring Addo's second spell in charge to an end.

The 50-year-old, who had qualified the Black Stars for this summer's World Cup, departs after two years in charge.

Ghana are now looking for a successor ahead of this summer's tournament, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

England face Ghana in their second group game, with the pair meeting on June 23 in Foxborough.

A Ghana statement read: "The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the Head Coach of the senior mens national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo, effective immediately.

"The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.

"The Ghana Football Association will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course."

Cucurella opens door on return to Barcelona

Marc Cucurella became the latest Chelsea player to express his openness to a move from Stamford Bridge to Spain.

Cucurella began his senior career at Barcelona before a move to Brighton, where he then sealed a transfer to Chelsea.

His Chelsea team-mate, Enzo Fernandez, had also fanned flames of a move to Real Madrid, telling an Argentinian outlet that he'd consider living in Madrid amid rumours.

While away with the Spain national team, speaking to press, Cucurella was asked a question referring to Fernandez's revelation:

"At the end of the day, Spain is always Spain - it's my country and where I grew up, and you always think about going back, but I think I'd leave it for a few years.

"I'm very happy there (in England), my family too, and as a life experience, it's a very good one.

pressed further as to whether, if an immediate move to Barcelona were to transpire, he would consider it, Cucurella added:

"Well, it's clear that if something like that happens, it's difficult to turn them down, but I'd have to consider it.

"At the end of the day, it's not just about me - I'd also have to think about my family, maybe, what's best for them or for all of us, but as I said before, I'm not thinking about that right now.

"If it happens, it happens, and we'll see what we decide."

'Real prefer to sign Fernandez over Rodri'

Real Madrid prefer to sign Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez over Manchester City midfielder Rodri, according to Spanish outlet Marca

Fernandez, who has a current deal at Stamford Bridge that runs until 2032, added fuel to speculation surrounding his future, telling an Argentinian outlet that he'd "like to live in Madrid".

The 25-year-old had previously used Chelsea's Champions League defeat to PSG to open the door on a departure, saying he doesn't know where his future lies and suggesting he'll wait until after the World Cup to decide his future.

Rodri himself told Spanish press last week that "you cannot turn down the best clubs in the world" when questioned about a potential move to Real in the future.

The report suggests that Florentino Perez doesn't want to sign Rodri and instead the Spanish giants are readying an approach for Fernandez.

Your Site News understands Chelsea are planning to sign another midfielder this summer and Fernandez is not regarded as untouchable at Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea would only consider an offer of more than 100m for one of their key players.
